TUCSON, Ariz.--- The Wildcats are set to compete in their final tournament of the fall, as the squad will split up, sending two of the Cats to the Dicky V Lakewood Ranch Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. and a pair to the Jack Kramer Club Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif.
"We are excited to get the invite to compete in these very strong and prestigious tournaments," said head coach Tad Berkowitz. "We have played in these tournaments in the past and it's a testament to the guys that we keep getting invided back."
Competing in the Dicky V Clay Court Classic this weekend will be, freshman Will Adkisson and junior Oliver Plaskett. This is the fourth straight year Arizona has participated in the event.
Adkisson and Plaskett will both be entering the tournament with winning records. Plaskett with a 3-2 mark on the season and Adkisson with 7-3 on the season.
The two will team up for doubles play on Friday at 9 am, while they'll both compete in singles play shortly after.
Joining the Cats in Lakewood Ranch will be, College of Charleston, Florida Gulf Coast, Furman, Miami, Michigan, Minnesota, Naval Academy, North Flordia, Princeton and South Florida.
Traveling for the second year in a row to Los Angeles for the Jack Kramer Club Invitational will be sophomore Shoki Kasahara and senior Naoki Takeda.
Takeda is currently ranked No. 37 in the nation, while boasting a 3-2 in the fall.
Kasahara and Takeda will team up for doubles play on Thursday starting at 9 am, while singles play will begin shortly after.
The Cats will be joined by Pac-12 opponents Washington, USC, Stanford, Oregon, and UCLA. Additionally Cal Poly, Loyola Marymount, UC Santa Barbara, Pepperdine, and UC Irvine will be there for a total of 11 participating institutions. Six of the schools in attendance held rankings within the top 75 of the ITA rankings at the end of the 2015 campaign., including two in the top three.
