This week's Q&A features freshman swimmer, Mik Ranslem about swimming at Arizona.
Q: What made you start swimming?
A: My mom made me learn to swim so I wouldn't drown one day when I was three.
Q: What is your favorite memory from swimming?
A: Any memory with my teammates. There are too many to choose.
Q: Best part of swimming at Arizona?
A: It's the first time I feel like I'm swimming for a team and not just myself
Q: What music do you listen to before meets?
A: I don't listen to music before races. It's too distracting.
Q: What is your favorite event to swim in? Why?
A: 200 fly. I like swimming fly and it's not too short, like the 100.
Q: How has it been adjusting to Tucson from Santa Clarita?
A: It's not too different from California, so in some ways I feel like I'm at home
Q: What is one thing you wish to accomplish this season?
A: I want to go 1:55 in 200 fly by the end of this season, and help the team win PAC-12s.
Q: How do you balance academics with swimming?
A: I like getting into a routine for each week so I know when I'm doing what, and when it's time to focus on swim or on academics.
Q: What is your favorite class?
A: My favorite class is Buddhism.
Q: Who is your biggest influence/inspiration?
A: Mike Trout.
Q: What is one interesting fact about yourself?
A: I was committed to Boise State before Arizona, then changed 3 weeks before school.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: Just be with my friends and take my mind off of things.
Q: Who is your celebrity crush?
A: Jenna Bauer
Q: What was your favorite childhood TV show?
A: Zaboomafoo
Q: If you could meet any singer/band, who would it be?
A: Panic At the Disco. They are my favorite, so it would be cool to meet them.
Q: If you could be any animal, what would you be?
A: Flying Squirrel. It just sounds cool.
Q: What is your favorite animal?
A: Capybara, the world's largest rodent.
Q: Where would your dream vacation be?
A: Switzerland

A: The Final Countdown
Q: What is your favorite kind of ice cream?
A: I am not an ice cream fan.
