Tucson, Ariz. – Senior Travis Thorne and junior Hannah Whetzel, were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team, as announced Wednesday by the conference. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Thorne, an optical science and engineering major, holds a 3.79 GPA. The Spokane, Wash. native competed in six contests for the Cats, recording his best finish at the Dave Murray Invitational earning seventh place.
Whetzel, who earned second team honors for a second year in a row, holds a 3.86 GPA studying mechanical engineering. The Tucson native has competed in five contests for the Cats, posting her best finish at the Dave Murray Invitational earning 19th place.
Jennie Baragar-Petrash, Kayla Ferron, Claire Green, and Addi Zerrenner earned honorable mention honors. For the men, Hunter Davila, Daniom Tecle, Carlos Villarreal, and Seamus White were awarded honorable mention. Davila, Ferron, and Zerrenner earned honorable mention honors for the second year in a row.
