TUCSON, Ariz. –
John Court is ready to take on the 2018 season with the GymCats as they prepare with their annual GymCat Showcase on December 5 at 6 p.m. in McKale Center.
"The showcase is becoming a better student athlete and fan experience each year," said head coach
John Court. "McKale Center is one of the finest arenas in the nation to host a colligate gymnastics competition and the staff and team are excited to kick off the season."
The GymCat Showcase is an opportunity for the Tucson community to meet the team before the season begins. The Cats will have five different gymnasts competing on all four events, giving the fans a good sense of what a real competition will feel like in McKale Center.
The Showcase is also a great opportunity for the four freshmen, Adra Parks, Laura Leigh Horton, Payton Bellows, and Sydney Freidin, to experience the energy in McKale for the first time.
"I am excited to be in front of so many people and to compete as team and not as an individual," said freshman Adra Parks. "It will be fun for the freshman because that is not something that we are used to. Freshman year is exciting because you are finding who you are as a gymnast and you have so many people behind you and supporting you in so many different ways."
The Arizona gymnastic seniors, Madison Cindric, Victoria Ortiz, and Kennady Schneider, will begin their final season competing as a GymCat with the annual Meet the Team event.
"I'm so excited for this year's GymCat showcase because this team has a lot of energy and sass," said senior Kennady Schneider. "We have been working extremely hard this preseason, and we can't wait to give our fans a sneak peek at what's to come. The energy in McKale is unlike anywhere else in the Pac-12. Our fans span generations, and give the team the confidence we need to bring our best performances. The last 4 years have been a dream come true. It has been an honor to represent the Arizona A with the pride of a true Wildcat. "
For the first time ever, the GymCat Showcase is a ticketed event. Regular prices will apply for admission. However, the Showcase is included in the season ticket holder package, so all season ticket holders who have previously purchased tickets will receive free admission to the Showcase.
Arizona gymnastics is only a few season ticket sales away from breaking its all-time record. For only 30 dollars season ticket holders will receive admission to the GymCat Showcase, all five home meets, and a season ticket holder scarf.
