TUCSON, Ariz. – The Pac-12 conference announced today that ten members of the University of Arizona women's soccer team were given Pac-12 Academic honors for their performance in the classroom. Awards are given based by cumulative GPA and players cannot receive awards in their freshman year of academics.
Sophomores Tia Painilainen and Jill Aguilera were named to Pac-12 All-Academic First Team and Second Team, respectively. This is their first time receiving academic awards.
The following eight team members were also given Honorable Mentions in the Pac-12 for their academic performance: Maddie Bennett, Lainey Burdett, Leah Carillo, Kelcey Cavarra, Cali Crisler, Samantha Falasco, Morgan McGarry, and Gabi Stoian.
Burdett, Crisler, and Stoian have received All-Academic designation following the 2015 and 2016 season, while their teammates were first-time recipients.
Arizona's team GPA for the spring semester of the 2017 season was a 3.376, the highest in program history.
