Cal Stevenson was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on Monday.
Stevenson is the third Wildcat to win the honor this season, joining freshman third baseman Nick Quintana and junior first baseman
JJ Matijevic. It's the 67
th time an Arizona player has won the conference award all-time.
Stevenson's hot week began last Monday at Santa Clara, when he went 2 for 3 with four runs scored, two RBI and a double. He also walked three times and was hit by a pitch, reaching base six times in Arizona's 16-10 victory over the Broncos.
Fast forward to Friday, and Stevenson went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI and a dramatic walk-off home run in a 5-4 win over Washington. Stevenson, who dropped down two perfect sacrifice bunts earlier in the game, hit a two-run home run with one out in the ninth to lift the Wildcats to a Friday night win over Washington, ending a six-game conference slide. The home run was Stevenson's fourth of the season and fourth in his last 18 games.
After going 1 for 3 with a walk in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Huskies, Stevenson again came up big for Arizona in the series finale with Washington. The Fremont, California native went 3 for 5 with three runs scored and two doubles. Trailing 11-7 entering the ninth inning, Stevenson led off the frame with a single and eventually scored to start a five-run rally for the Wildcats, who won 12-11.
Also in the game, Stevenson threw out a runner at third base for his fifth outfield assist of the season.
A transfer from University of Nevada and Chabot College, Stevenson is hitting .306 this season with a team-best 50 runs. He also has seven doubles, three triples, four home runs and 25 RBI to go with a .435 on-base percentage.
Stevenson and the Wildcats return to action Tuesday night when they host Arizona State at 6 p.m.
