TUCSON - Rising sophomores
Jessie Harper and
Dejah Mulipola and assistant coach Kristie Fox helped the U.S. Junior Women's National Team earn its second consecutive gold medal at the WBSC Junior Women's World Championship in Clearwater, Florida.
The JWNTÂ went 9-0 in the event, outscoring its opposition 99-9 over the week, including a come-from-behind 13-4 victory over Japan in the gold medal game.Â
Both Harper and Mulipola excelled in Florida, helping power the high-scoring JWNT offense.
Harper, who appeared in all nine games, batted .345 with two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI. She slugged .724 in 29 at-bats.Â
Mulipola batted .500 (8-for-16) in six games with a pair of doubles, a homer and four RBI.
Harper, Mulipola and Fox, who was recently named the head coach at UNLV, and the Junior Women's National Team wrap up their summer Aug. 9-10 in Cincinnati, Ohio, where they will participate in the MLB RBI World Series.
