Tucson, Ariz. –– Junior Zakee Washington was named the Pac-12 Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, the conference announced. The Las Vegas native posted a top-10 Arizona mark in the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.36 and contributed on a pair of relay teams.

"It was really great to see that breakthrough for him," said head track and field coach Fred Harvey. "It means so much to us at the Pac-12 and NCAA level. If he can continue to run in that capacity we are going to do some great things in the men's 4x400 and the open 400."

Washington competed in the Willie Williams Classic last Friday and Saturday. He clocked a time of 46.36 in the 400-meter dash to set a new PR, the No. 10 mark in the Arizona record book and the No. 1 mark in the NCAA and Pac-12 Conference. He also contributed to the 4x400-meter relay team that finished second with a time of 3:10.18 to set the No. 6 mark in the NCAA and the 4x100-meter relay team that registered a time of 40.67 to take second and set the No. 3 mark in the conference.
