Cats Conclude Second Round at The Goodwin

PALO ALTO, Calif.- The Arizona men's golf program concluded play in round two of The Goodwin, hosted by Stanford. The Cats finished in for 17th, with a team score of 291, 11-over in the second round. Sophomore Trevor Werbylo continues to lead the team, as he is tied in 23rd.
 
"This course separates and the players who can execute and keep composure will have the best round.," commented head coach James Anderson. "We need to have everyone in their round all day tomorrow so we can finish strong and move up the leaderboard. Our guys are confident and I am certain we can put a good one up tomorrow. We will be ready to get off to a good start with great conditions in the morning."
 
Werbylo's second round of 73, with two birdies on the first and 13th hole. The Tucson local is having success on par five holes, where he's three-under and averaging 4.50. He will enter the final round of the competition with a score 142 (+2).
 
Junior Brad Reeves and senior Ethan Marcus both shot rounds of 71 to move them up the leader board. Reeves jumped 11 spots to put him in a tie for 35th and Marcus moved up 12 spots and is now tied in 40th.  Combined, Reeves and Marcus tabbed eight birdies in the second round.
 
Other scores for the Cats included a 77 (+7) from David Laskin and a 78 (+8) from Drake Mendenhall, who are both tied in 121st.
 
The last round of The Goodwin will begin tomorrow, March 30th, with the Cats teeing off starting at 8:25 a.m. on holes 6-10. Follow the last day of the tournament on Golfstat here, as well as on social media, on Twitter, @arizonamgolf, and Instagram, @arizonagolf.
