Wildcats Wrap Up Split Weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas. – Arizona Track and Field closed out competition at both the Texas Tech and University of Washington Invitationals on Saturday. The Wildcats tallied a total of 27 PRs.

Highlights - Texas Tech Invitational
James Smith and Shannon Meisberger both came within half a second of both the men's and women's Arizona all-time 600m records. Meisberger ran 1:29.64 and Smith clocked 1:16.78. Meisberger, Anna Foreman (1:33.73), Gracie Reinholz (1:35.45), Athena Montgomery (1:40.09), Smith and Isaac Desjarlais (1:22.45) all ran PRs in the 600m.

Pjai Austin ran a PR time of 21.00 in the 200m, nearly tying the school record of 20.99 held by Mike Kenyon.

Sarahvaughn King clocked PR times of 23.90 in the 200m and 54.21 in the 400m.

Justice Summerset cleared 2.21m (7-3) in the high jump, placing third and matching his PR. Alexa Porpaczy (1.80m, 5-10.75) and Justin Lewis (2.11m, 6-11) also marked PRs in the high jump.

In the weight throw, Aoife Martin threw a PR mark of 18.55m (60-10.5) and Israel Oloyede threw a season best mark of 20.56m (67-5.5). Both athletes placed fourth.

In his 2020 400m debut, Umajesty Williams clocked a time of 47.28 and finished sixth overall.

The men's 4x400 relay team ran a time of 3:10.65 to take ninth overall and the women's relay team clocked 3:38.82, finishing fifth.

Timothy Kibet ran a PR of 1:52.42 in the 800m.

Highlights - University of Washington Invitational
Keelah Barger ran a PR time of 17:00.45 in her first indoor 5k.

In the 800m, Alisa Lyesina ran 2:09.58, good for a PR and Camron Herron ran a season best time of 1:51.81.

Victor Ortiz-Rivera also clocked a season best, running 4:07.31 in the mile.

Carlos Villarreal ran a time of 8:10.99 in the 3k.

The Wildcats will be back in action on February 14 and 15 as they head back to Lubbock, Texas and Seattle, Wash. for the Texas Tech Shootout and Washington Husky Invitational.
