TUCSON, Ariz. ??Arizona Gymnastics gave over 600 fans a sneak peek of the 2016 roster?on Sunday?in McKale. The support of the community helped prepare the team for the upcoming season and their first home meet on January 8th?against Michigan State. In a match style competition, the GymCats went head-to-head on each event hitting 23 for 24 routines.?
“We are so grateful for the unbelievable amount of support from the Arizona Athletics staff, faculty and administration,” said head coach Tabitha Yim. “We had a blast spending our afternoon with over 600 fans from the Tucson community, and it was a great opportunity for our team to perform in front of a crowd. We look forward to building and making this event an even bigger production in years to come.”
The GymCats showed consistency on each of their events hitting all six routines on vault, bars and floor. With representation from all four classes, the GymCat's depth allowed for a calm and collected attitude throughout the afternoon.
“Our senior leaders have been phenomenal this pre-season,” said Yim. “Our goal is to be the most consistent and hard-working team in the nation, and they are doing an amazing job leading this effort. It's been a lot of fun watching the team come together as a family, and we are ready to get things started.”?
The GymCats are excited to perform for the Tucson Community at the home opener against Michigan State. The meet will take place on?Jan. 8, 2016 at 6 p.m.?in McKale.?
