BATON ROUGE, La. -- The No. 15 Arizona beach volleyball team closed out the two-day LSU Beach Invitational on Saturday with a pair of 4-1 victories over Central Arkansas and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Wildcats improved their record to 12-8 after going 3-1 on the weekend.
UA opened up the day's play with a 4-1 defeat of Central Arkansas (7-2). Arizona's No. 1, 3, 4, and 5 pairs came out on top claiming victories in straight sets. The No. 2 team of Olivia Hallaran and Kacey Nady were forced to retire from their match due to a medical forfeit, but were able to compete in the second match of the day against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
In the second match of the day, the Cats defeated the Islanders of Corpus Christi 4-1. Arizona's No. 1 pair of Olivia Macdonald and Natalie Anselmo won their match, bringing their pairs record to 14-6 on the year. Arizona's No. 3, 4, and 5 pairs also concluded their weekend play with victories.
Two of Arizona's pairs went undefeated on the weekend. Hailey Devlin and Stephany Purdue went 4-0 on court three, while Jonny Baham and Brooke Burling won all four matches, with three coming on court five and one on court four.
The No. 15 Wildcats head home to Bear Down Beach for the Wildcat Spring Challenge April 6-7.
