April Student-Athletes of the Month Announced

TUCSON, Ariz.– Arizona's student-athletes for the month of April have been announced by C.A.T.S. Academics. The month's honorees are Elesha Magley (Soccer), Eleni Gewalt (Women's Swim and Dive), Haakon Naughton (Men's Swim and Dive), and Mateo Pimienta (Men's Track).

Athlete: Elesha Magley
Year: Sophomore
Sport: Soccer
Major: Psychology
Hometown: Fruit Heights, Utah

"Elesha is a new transfer student for soccer, coming in at midyear. It is never easy transferring to different schools but Elesha has not skipped a beat when it comes to her academics. Even through spring season injuries, she is able to stay focused and work hard so that she can keep up with her courses. Whenever she does get stuck, she always reaches out for help. I think she is a great addition to our student-athlete population."

Athlete: Eleni Gewalt
Year: Senior
Sport: Women's Swim and Dive
Major: Communication
Hometown: Spring Grove, IL

"A NCAA individual qualifier for the 100 & 200 breaststroke this season and captain on the swim team Eleni is the type of person who leads by example through consistent hard work, and accountability. She demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence, consistently approaching training and competition with the intent to get the best out of everyone around her. In the classroom, she maintains a high level of academic achievement, reflecting a dedication to intellectual growth and personal responsibility. Eleni lives by the swim team motto, team over self-mindset."

Athlete: Haakon Naughton
Year: Senior
Sport: Men's Swim and Dive
Major: Computer Science
Hometown: Lakeville, MN

"In the 4 years I spent working with Haakon, he is a student who always looked at the big picture. When it comes to classes he would go to office hours, seek out different opportunities, and would find internship opportunities to help propel him forward. In swimming he earned his NCAA spot in the 100 and 200 fly. Making to NCAA is quite a challenge, let alone in two events. Haakon puts in the work to be great, and it shows in the success he has had inside the classroom and in the pool."

Athlete: Mateo Pimienta
Year: Sophomore
Sport: Men's Track
Major: Civil Engineering
Hometown: Tucson, AZ

"Mateo Pimienta is a sophomore student-athlete and member of the men's track & field team. Mateo is an outstanding student, pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering with minors in Mathematics and Spanish. He maintains one of the highest GPA's on the team and continues to impress academically."
