TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona gymnastics traveled to Arizona State for their annual duel in the desert today. The Cats lost with a final score of 195.025 to 196.725, making their record 9-10 against ASU since 2000.
Cats Bring the Heat on Bars:
Arizona opened the meet on the uneven bars, scoring a 49.000 or higher for the fourth time this season. Senior
Kennady Schneider opened the competition with a 9.650, she was followed by a pair of 9.800's from
Haylie Hendrickson and
Maddi Leydin. Senior
Madison Cindric contributed a 9.775,
Christina Berg scored a 9.800, and
Danielle Spencer earned the Cats highest score of a 9.924.
Spencer Brings Home Silver on Bars:
Junior
Danielle Spencer tied for second place in the competition on the uneven bars with a score of 9.825, following ASU's Cairo Leonard-Baker who earned a 9.850. Spencer has competed on bars in every meet this season, and currently holds a season high of 9.850 and career high of 9.875.
Schneider Places on Beam:
Senior
Kennady Schneider brought home bronze on the balance beam competition with a score of 9.825, and new season high. She followed Arizona State's Justine Callis (9.900) and Ashley Szafranski (9.875).
Cindric and Leydin Compete in the All-Around:
Senior
Madison Cindric and sophomore
Maddi Leydin both compete in all four events during today's competition against Arizona State. Cindric earned an all-around score of 38.550. She tied for second on vault with a 9.850, scored a 9.775 on bars, 9.075 on beam, and a 9.850 on floor.
Leydin earned an all-around score of 38.625 with a 9.725 on vault, a 9.800 on bars, 9.300 on beam, and a 9.800 on floor.
