HISTORY OF ARIZONA ATHLETICS
Arizona is one of the nation’s most successful athletics programs, boasting 24 team national championships and 199 individual national champions. Softball has captured eight national titles, while baseball has won four national championships. Women’s golf (3), synchronized swimming (3), women’s triathlon (2), men’s basketball (1), men’s golf (1), men’s swimming and diving (1) and women’s swimming and diving (1) have also won national titles
Arizona joined the Big 12 Conference in 2024 after being a member of the Pac-12 Conference since 1978. Prior to that, the Wildcats were in the Western Athletic Conference (1962-78) and Border Conference (1931-62)
In 2025-26 Arizona captured the Allstate Big 12 Commissioner's Cup, presented annually to annually by the conference to recognize Big 12 athletic departments for their efforts in fostering an environment that develops student-athletes both on and off the field.
