TUCSON, Ariz. -- The youth movement of Arizona men's tennis continues to grow with the signing of Connor Olsen, a 4-star recruit from Orono, Minnesota. Connor attended Orono High School and is ranked #164 in his recruiting class.
"I'm excited to have Conner join the program and looking forward to working with him next fall," said head coach
Clancy Shields. He is an awesome kid with a positive attitude, loves the game, and has a lot of potential to grow and improve. We are excited to welcome Conner to Tucson, and we look forward to his impact on our team."
Olsen has a personal connection with the University of Arizona. His father, Dale, also attended the University of Arizona, plus he has two cousins who are currently enrolled here.
"I have always wanted to compete for a school where athletics play a key role and the fan base is dedicated and loyal," said Olsen. "Coach Shields and the rest of his staff have the ability to develop my game and take it to the next level. I love how much they care for each player. Coach Shields has an ambitious vision for this program that I share, and I am excited to be a part of it. I felt the brotherhood connection between the boys on the team and know that they all are hungry and have a common mindset. I especially loved the college town feel of Tucson and the atmosphere at the University of Arizona. I can't wait to join the team and get to work."
Olsen, who is also the second-ranked recruit from Minnesota, joins a promising young team that has already won the most matches at Arizona in ten years.
