EUGENE, Ore. - Luke Jackson scored 28 points, and Oregon tied a
McArthur Court record with 13 3-pointers in stunning No. 11 Arizona 105-75
Saturday night.
The 30-point margin of victory was Oregon's largest over the Wildcats.
Jackson had 16 points during a first-half spurt that helped the Ducks turn a
17-9 deficit into a 49-31 lead. Oregon made eight 3-pointers and went 9-of-10
from the free throw line during the run.
For the game, the Ducks hit 13-of-22 (59 percent) from beyond the arc. They
made 54 percent of their shots overall and were 24-of-27 from the line.
Fredrick Jones added 21 for the Ducks (8-3, 2-0 Pac-10), and Luke Ridnour
added 18.
Jason Gardner led Arizona with 19 points, while Channing Frye had 18 points
and nine rebounds.
The Wildcats (6-3, 1-1) had a glimmer of hope when an 8-0 spurt closed the
gap to 49-39 at halftime.
But James Davis hit two 3-pointers early the second half and Jackson
continued to make his shots.
The Wildcats extended their defense to better guard the outside shot, but
the Ducks then went inside to Brian Helquist and 7-foot-2 Chris Christoffersen.
Helquist's three-point play with 11:43 left pushed the lead back to 16 and
seemed to take the steam out Arizona, as the lead soon ballooned to 20, then
30.
Jackson's last basket put the Ducks over the century mark, the first time
they've scored more than 100 points in consecutive Pac-10 games.
The Ducks won their conference opener Thursday, 103-90 over Arizona State.
