The University of Arizona No. 22 men's and No. 6 women's track and field teams opened up competition at the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday.

BEFORE ARIZONA: Timpe attended Western Washington University for two years ... He holds the indoor school record in the 800 meters, clocking a time of 1:53.03 ... His personal-best time in the 1,500-meter race is 3:53.03 ... He was a member of their 2012 conference championship team ... Holds the No. 9 time in outdoor school history for the 800 meters and No. 7 in outdoor school history 1,500 meters.
HIGH SCHOOL: A graduate of Hornet High School, Timpe was the team captain in 2010 and the team MVP in 2009 and 2010 ... Timpe was the league and district runner-up his senior year ... He earned a seventh-place finish at the Washington State Championship in the 800-meter race ... He was a member of the National Honor Society and a scholar athlete from 2008-10.
PERSONAL: He is the son of Philip and Sue Ellen Timpe and he was born in Maple Valley, Wash. ... He has one brother, Miles ... He is pursuing a degree in political science and is considering attending law school.
