No. 58 Marker Scores Upset at ITA All-American Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.--- University of Arizona sophomore Lauren Marker rebounded in a big way Wednesday afternoon, as she earned a dramatic come-from-behind victory to advance to the third round of the singles qualifying back draw bracket at the Riviera/ ITA Women's All-American Championships.
Marker showed why she is considered one of the very best in the nation, as she strung together an improbable 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory over TCU's No. 31 Stefanie Tan to advance to third round action. For Marker, the victory goes down as her highest ranked win since taking down Cal's No. 14 Zsofi Susanyi in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) back on March 30, 2014.
The win also goes down as her second overall ranked victory of her collegiate career, while it also marks the first time she's come away with a match victory after dropping the opening set, since claiming a 4-6, 7-5, 10-3 win over Washington's Andjela Nemcevic last season (March 9, 2014).
Marker aims for her second straight ranked victory on Thursday, as she'll go up against Stanford's No. 30 Krista Hardebeck for a spot in the consolation bracket semifinals.
Marker automatically advanced to the second round of tournament play, as her opponent Yana Kordoleva (Florida International) was forced to withdraw due to injury.
