Cats Head to Palo Alto for Stanford Intercollegiate

TUCSON, Ariz.—The fourth-ranked Arizona women's golf team will compete in their third tournament of the season Oct. 18-20 in Palo Alto, California for the Stanford Intercollegiate. Dr. Condoleezza Rice who is the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at Stanford's Hoover Institution will host the event. It will be held at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Cats are coming off a tie for first at the Windy City Classic earlier this month. The team tied with Northwestern and Georgia to split the championship.
Arizona will send the same lineup that played in that tournament, which includes senior Lindsey Weaver, juniors Wanasa Zhou and Jessica Vasilic, sophomore Krystal Quihuis and freshman Gigi Stoll.
Vasilic had her season debut at the Windy City Classic where she tied for second place out of 83 contestants. Her best round of the tournament was a 69. She finished five strokes behind the leader, Bailey Tardy from Georgia. She looks to continue to perform well and lead the Cats.
The Stanford Intercollegiate tournament includes 16 teams with five ranked in the top ten. The field consts of: No. 1 USC, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Northwestern, No. 6 Arizona, No. 9 Stanford, No. 12 UCLA, No. 13 Arizona State, No. 15 Iowa State, No. 21 Washington, No. 22 Vanderbilt, No. 28 Oregon, No. 35 Auburn, No. 43 California, Pepperdine, San Jose State, UC Davis and Washington State.
The event will span three days and it features 54 holes of stroke play. All players will be re-grouped before each round based on respective scores.
The Cats will kick off at 8:30 a.m MST both Sunday and Monday and 7:30 a.m. MST on Tuesday.
