TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona women's golf currently sits in eighth place after completing the first round at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Invitational. The team recorded a score of 301 (+13) on the par 72, 6,189 yard course. The tournament is hosted by Tulane University at English Turn Golf & Country Club in New Orleans, La.
Freshman Krystal Quihuis finished best for the Wildcats with a score of 73 (+1). She currently sits in a tie for 12th place. Sophomore Wanasa Zhou follows with a score of 75 (+3), with four birdies through the first 18 holes.
Senior Manon Gidali recorded a score of 76 (+4), followed by senior Kendall Prince with 77 (+5). Junior Lindsey Weaver rounds out the Arizona five with a score of 79 (+7).
Sophomore Jessica Vasilic is competing as an individual for the Wildcats. After the first round, she sits in a tie for 58th place with a score of 80 (+8).
No. 17 LSU currently leads the race at four under par. No. 31 Tulane is seven shots back from the lead after a round of 291 (+3). No. 6 UCLA rounds out the top three at 292 (+4).
Competition continues Monday as Arizona will play 18 more holes and is set to tee off at 9:00 a.m. CST/8:00 a.m. MST.
