Arizona Figures to Use Streetcar to Promote Upcoming Seasons

Tucson, Ariz. – Key figures from the University of Arizona will take to the Sun Link Streetcar on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. to promote the upcoming Arizona Athletics seasons. Director of Athletics Greg Byrne, head women's golf coach Laura Ianello and assistant coach Derek Radley, new head baseball coach Jay Johnson, new head gymnastics coach Tabitha Yim, Senior Associate to the President of UA Jon Dudas and Wilbur and Wilma will board the Streetcar at the UA and ride to the downtown area before having lunch at The Cup Café in the Hotel Congress.

“We're always looking for ways to connect with the Tucson community and what better way than to take the Streetcar from campus to downtown and mingle with patrons, business owners and Wildcat fans,” said Byrne. “The 2015-16 seasons are right around the corner and we want to help build on the already established excitement by getting out and visiting with fans one-on-one.”

Byrne and the coaches will start the trip at Stop 18 by Hillenbrand Stadium on the UA campus and Dudas will join the pair at Stop 17 adjacent to the 2nd St. Garage and Highland. Wilbur and Wilma will join in the fun at Stop 15 by Main Gate Square before the group heads to Stop 9W (Congress at 6th Ave.).

Members of the UA cheer squad will be located at the downtown stop when the group arrives. From there, they'll head to The Cup Café, which is owned by UA alum Richard Oseran, in the Hotel Congress for lunch and to visit with patrons at the restaurant. After lunch, the group will visit various nearby locations in the downtown area.
