TUCSON, ARIZ. -- The Pac-12 Networks' winter sports programming has released the competition schedule for the 2016 season. Arizona Gymnastics is excited to announce their home schedule featuring prime time meets on Friday and Saturday nights. The Wildcats will make five network television appearances during the regular season as well as a Fox Sports network showing against Oklahoma. The Pac-12 Championships at the University of Washington will also be televised on March 19th.
“We are looking forward to an exciting 2016 season,” said Yim. “The GymCats are thrilled to kick-off the season at home against Big-10, Michigan State and know our fans will appreciate the strong home schedule we are bringing to McKale. We will showcase high-level gymnastics with strong Pac-12 opponents and a competitive match-up on the road against four-time Big 12 Champions, Oklahoma.”
The GymCats begin their season on Friday, January 8th at home against Michigan State. The competition will kick off an exciting home season including meets against UCLA (Jan. 23rd), Stanford (Feb. 13th), and Washington (Feb. 27th). The team will celebrate their seniors, Danielle Buchanan, Jessie Sisler, Lexi Mills, and Shelby Edwards in their final home meet on March 11th against BYU.
The Wildcats will head on the road to face Texas Women's University (Jan. 17th), Utah (Feb. 1st), California (Feb. 7th), Arizona State (Feb. 22nd), and Oklahoma (March 4th).
The GymCats return 21 of 24 routines from last season's championship meets and will add six dynamic freshman to the 2016 lineup. Arizona also welcomes back ten gymnasts including Pac-12 Champions, Sisler and Edwards.
NCAA Regionals will be held on April 2nd at college campuses in six cities: Athens, Georgia, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Salt Lake City, Utah, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Iowa City, Iowa, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The 2016 NCAA National Championship will be held in the Fort Worth Convention Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on April 14-17th.
Season tickets for the 2016 season are on sale now through the University of Arizona Ticket Office.
Fans will have an opportunity to catch their 2016 GymCats in action at the annual Meet the Team on Friday, December 6th in McKale Arena. Admission to the event is free.
