Wildcats Prepare for Season Opener in Orlando

The Cats are coming off a Pac-12 Championship and are expected to have another strong year. Coach Laura Ianello's team is ranked fifth nationally heading into the new campaign by golfweek.com
Those participating in the event include sophomore Natalia Forero, sophomore Krystal Quihuis, freshman Giovanna Stoll, senior Lindsey Weaver and junior Wanasa Zhou.
Weaver is expected to lead the squad after an outstanding 2014-15 season. She competed in all 12 events and 37 rounds. After winning the Superstition Golf and Country Club qualifier, she advanced to the U.S Women's Open. She was an All-Pac-12 First-Team honoree, a WGCA Second-Team All-American, and a GolfWeek Second-Team All-American for the 2014-15 season. She also led the team in stroke average (72.97), lowest tournament (206, -10) and had the most top-10 finishes (six).
Sophomore Krystal Quihuis was the Pac-12 Conference Freshman of the Year last season. She is Arizona's third Pac-12 Rookie of the Year. She played in every tournament in the spring and finished as the Wildcats top finisher in three events. Quihuis was named WGCA Honorable Mention All-America and earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention honors in April. She earned a top-25 finish in the NCAA Championships stroke play and was the sixth best freshman overall and top Pac-12 freshman.
Weaver and Quihuis are hoping to perform well in the Annika Intercollegiate, hosted by former Arizona great Annika Sorenstam. Sorenstam will be on hand to welcome the Wildcats to Orlando.
After this tournament, the Wildcats will head to the Windy City Collegiate Classic in Evanston, ILL. Oct. 5-6.
