  • Arizona returns to Tucson after their season-opening 65-63 win over No. 12/9 Michigan State in the Armed Forces Classic on Friday in Hawai'i. The Wildcats opened the game in a 17-2 deficit before the UA defense held the Spartans scoreless for eight minutes en route to a 34-30 halftime lead. Kadeem Allen scored the game-winning basket on a full court lay-up as the clock eclipsed two seconds remaining. The senior went on to clinch the victory by deflecting the ensuing Michigan State inbound pass.
  • Freshman Kobi Simmons led Arizona in scoring versus Michigan State with 18 points. He accounted for 15 of his team's 34 first-half points. His 18 points were the most by a UA freshman in his NCAA debut since Jerryd Bayless tallied 18 points in the 2007-08 season opener.
  • UA returns to the friendly confines of the McKale Center where it has won 55 of its last 56 games. The Wildcats are 108-12 (.900) in home games under Sean Miller and boast an all-time record of 561-103 (.845) in the McKale Center.
  • The Wildcats have won their home opener in each of the last 14 seasons with the last loss being a 97-105 decision to the then-ranked No. 8 Kansas Jayhawks on Dec. 1, 2001.
  • Tuesday's meeting will be just the second between the two programs since their initial meeting, a 94-87 Arizona victory, on Nov. 29, 1972 in Bear Down Gym. The game was played three months prior to the opening of the McKale Center. Eric Money led the Wildcats in scoring that game with 37 points, which marked the third most points in a game by a freshman.
  • Arizona and Indiana were the only ranked teams to open the season versus a nationally-ranked opponent. Both teams won their match-ups in the Armed Forces Classic in Honolulu.
  • With eight points on just three shot attempts from the field, sophomore Chance Comanche set a new career high with 8 points in the win over No. 12/9 Michigan State in UA's season opener in Hawai'i.
  • Point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright finished his team's win over the Spartans with a trio of steals. His three steals in the opener were a new career high and were as many as he recorded in the final eight games of last season combined.
  • With another near-capacity crowd expected for Tuesday night's game, the home attendance in McKale Center for both exhibitions and the McDonald's Red-Blue Game have shown fan turnout. With a total attendance of 42,811 for the three events, UA has averaged a crowd of 14,270 prior to the start of the season in Tucson. That figure accounts for approximately 97.4 percent capacity.
