Lorena Ochoa Named to the WGCA Players Hall of Fame

The Women's Golf Coaches Association will induct former Wildcat great Lorena Ochoa into the WGCA Players Hall of Fame on Sunday, Dec. 11 in Las Vegas, Nev. at the Planet Hollywood Resort. 

Ochoa will become the 67th member of the WGCA Hall of Fame and will be inducted alongside Maria Hernandez of Purdue, and Virada Nirapathpongporn from Duke. The WGCA is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches.

Ochoa won consecutive WGCA Player of the Year Awards in her two seasons at Arizona, and earned twelve individual tournament titles in her storied collegiate career. Ochoa also won an NCAA record seven consecutive tournaments. Ochoa finished first or second in all but two of her collegiate events with a career scoring average of 70.85. Ochoa's eight wins as a sophomore set at NCAA record for the career individual wins.

Ochoa went on to become the top-ranked female golfer in the world for 158 consecutive weeks, which is an LPGA record.
