  • Arizona and Grand Canyon will continue their intrastate series on Wednesday with the first meeting in over 35 years. The Wildcats and Antelopes last met on Dec. 30, 1980, which saw UA earn a 74-60 victory inside McKale Center. UA's leading scorer in that game was senior guard John Smith with 19 points.
  • The Wildcats won their first true road game of the season with a 79-60 victory at Missouri on Saturday. UA used a barrage of three-pointers to defeat the Tigers courtesy of 38 combined points from freshmen Rawle Alkins and Kobi Simmons. As a team, Arizona shot 13 of 24 (.542) from deep in Columbia, Mo. That was the team's highest three-point field goal percentage in a game with at least 12 makes since shooting 12 of 21 (.571) from beyond the arc versus Northern Arizona (Nov. 28, 2012).
  • Rawle Alkins is coming off a strong week, helping guide his team to a pair of wins versus UC Irvine and at Missouri. The freshman guard led UA in scoring for the week at 16.5 points per game while finishing second in rebounding (8.0 rpg), assists (3.5 apg) and steals (1.5 spg). His scoring punch was fueled by 54.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Alkins' 19 points and nine rebounds in the win at Missouri left him one point and one rebound short of becoming the second Arizona guard to record a 20-point, 10-rebound game since 2004. Nick Johnson tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds versus Rhode Island on Nov. 19, 2013.
  • Wednesday's game marks UA's 359th game against a current NCAA Division I institution from the State of Arizona. The Wildcats have played 230 games versus Arizona State, 124 against Northern Arizona and four versus Grand Canyon. UA's record is 249-109 (.696) in those 358 games.
  • Lauri Markkanen's eight points at Missouri snapped his impressive nine-game streak of double-digit scoring games to open his NCAA career. The 7-footer's streak tied Jerryd Bayless for the third longest streak by a UA freshman to start their career.
  • Arizona returns to the friendly confines of McKale Center this week where it has won its last 11 consecutive games. The Wildcats also own a streak of 38 consecutive non-conference wins at home, and they are 113-12 (.904) inside McKale under Sean Miller.
