What did you accomplish at Arizona and as a GymCat?
I transferred to Arizona after a very difficult couple of years at another institution. I was so proud to have competed in every meet during my time as a GymCat and to be part of such a successful and joyful team. During my tenure, I was an academic NCAA All American, which was a personal achievement for me as it demonstrated dedication to not only my sport but academics as well.
What have you been up to since graduation?
My husband Nelson and I live in Minneapolis (I know - brrr) and are blessed to have our beautiful 20-month-old daughter, Grayson (#futuregymcat). I am a transactional attorney at a private equity fund in Minneapolis, where I primarily focus on buying, selling and leasing aircraft to airlines around the world.
How do you feel Arizona helped you grow as a person?
Being a GymCat taught me many things including dedication, perseverance, time management, responsibility, and leadership – however, one of the key things that I continue to rely on throughout my life is the importance of teamwork. No matter where you are in life, you will work with others and the presence of a strong team mentality has helped to steer my life and career in a positive direction for which I am ever grateful.
Are you still involved in gymnastics?
I no longer have an active role in gymnastics but of course am an avid NCAA gymnastics and GymCats fan!
What do you miss most about the University of Arizona?
The weather…especially when it is sub-zero in Minneapolis. I miss being in a community that is all Wildcats all the time.
What do you miss most about being a student-athlete?
The camaraderie and being on a team with one united goal.
What are some of your favorite memories at Arizona and with the GymCats?
My first meet as a GymCat, Senior Night, My last meet as a GymCat , Men's Basketball winning the NCAA championship, Winning a car on the Price is Right with one of my teammates, Mr. Gault's Retirement – I could go on and on.
What advice would you give to current GymCat athletes?
Don't blink – your time at Arizona will go by so quickly so lean in and give it your all. Relish in the excitement of being a part of U of A athletics and a GymCat! It truly is an amazing place! Bear Down!
Anything else you would like to share about your time at Arizona?
While in law school, I also served as assistant coach for the GymCats with Bill Ryden and John Court and later coached at another NCAA program prior to focusing on a law career. Having experienced coaching at two different universities helped me realize how special the University of Arizona is.
