TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 9 Arizona sand volleyball team will hold its second annual Red-Blue Game this Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. MST. This scrimmage will be the fans first chance to catch the 2016 Wildcats in action.
Arizona is coming off of its 2015 season in which they went 18-3, despite the loss of a talented group of seniors the roster will be replenished with a strong batch of new comers. The Sand Cats will play in a five set match against one another for the Red-Blue Exhibition. This will be the first-ever year Arizona Sand Volleyball is recognized as an NCAA Championship sport.
“The Red vs. Blue exhibition is a great dress rehearsal for the entire team, but especially the players that are new to the program,” said Head coach Steve Walker. “I feel that it is very valuable to try and generate a kind of competition day experience that is different than our standard work week. The coaches and players are very excited to get the 2016 season underway and I know the players are especially excited to finally play in front of friends, family and the best fans in the PAC-12.”
The Wildcats will compete in their first match of the regular season against Colorado Mesa, Thursday, March 3 at 6 p.m. MST. They will go on to host TCU, Cal Poly, Cal and LMU in the Arizona Invitational, March 4-5.
