Ryan Anderson Named Pac-12 Player of the Week

FROM THE PAC-12 CONFERENCE

SAN FRANCISCO - Senior Ryan Anderson powered nationally ranked No. 17 Arizona to a pair of road victories to earn his first career Pac-12 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week nod as voted upon by media members who cover the league.

Anderson, who is among the national nominees for the John R. Wooden, Lute Olson and Karl Malone awards, averaged 26.5 points and 13.5 rebounds while shooting 57 percent (16-28) from the field and 75 percent (21-28) at the foul line to help Arizona become just the third Pac-12 team to sweep a road series in 28 attempts so far this season.

The forward from Long Beach, Calif., posted the first 30-point, 10-rebound performance by a Wildcat since March 2011 with 31 points (10-16 FG, 11-17 FT) and 12 boards in Wednesday's 79-64 triumph at Washington State. Anderson added his 12th double-double of the season - second-most in the Pac-12 - with 22 points (6-12 FG, 10-11 FT) and 15 rebounds in Saturday's 77-72 win at Washington.

It marks the first career Player of the Week award for Anderson, who earned an ACC Rookie of the Week honor as a freshman at Boston College in 2011-12. He is one of two Pac-12 players currently averaging a double-double, ranking eighth in the league in scoring (16.2 ppg) and second in rebounding (10.4 rpg).
