ATLANTA, Ga. – Arizona men's swimming and diving wrapped up the season with a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Championships on Saturday (87). Texas took the title (541.5) followed by California (351) and Florida (334). The Cats had two top-eight finishes on the day.
Senior Rafael Quintero closed out his collegiate career with a second-place finish in the platform scoring 482.30, only 17 points behind Ohio State's Zhipeng Zeng. The diver also took second in the 1-meter on Thursday. Dominic Ricotta placed 37th in the platform prelims with 308.25.
In the 1,650 free, sophomore Chris Wieser took seventh with a season-best 14:44.91 for 12 points. The swimmer improved from taking 21st in the event last year.
Meanwhile, Tyler Fowler placed 21st in the 1,650 free with a time of 14:59.29 after taking second at the Pac-12 Championships.
After breaking a school record in the 200 fly at Pac-12 Championships, Justin Wright finished third in the B final of the event, touching in 1:42.77. Nick Thorne placed 29th in the prelims with 1:44.25.
The Cats just missed the finals of the 200 back as Maudslien finished 17th in the prelims (1:40.75). Richmond then took 30th in the 100 free prelims (43.34).
In the prelims of the 200 breast, Gage Crosby placed 30th (1:56.73) while Blair Bish came in 38th (1:58.95) after landing in the 100 breast B final on Friday.
