Cats Travel to California to Compete Against Top 10 Teams

TUCSON, Ariz. – The sixth-ranked Arizona sand volleyball team heads back to the coast this weekend to take on No. 7 Long Beach State, LMU, CSU Bakersfield and No. 1 Pepperdine. The Sand Cats hold an 8-1 record and have moved up to the No. 6 spot in the AVCA and DiG Magazine Poll.
This is the second time Arizona ventures away from home. The Cats took on Concordia University defeating them (5-0) in Huntington Beach, California. The team also experienced the first loss of the season against No. 5 UCLA, (2-3) in Los Angeles, California. This will also be UA's second time facing LMU and CSU Bakersfield this season as they earned home victories against both teams.
Arizona competes against No. 7 Long Beach State on Friday, April 1 in Long Beach, California at 12 p.m. MST. Long Beach State holds a record of (5-6) as they just defeated ASU, LMU, Cal and Nebraska all, (4-1) and CSUN, (5-0). This will be The Wildcats first time facing the 49ers this season.
The following days, the Sand Cats will compete in the Zuma Classic as they face LMU, CSU Bakersfield and No. 1 Pepperdine in Malibu, California. UA will go on to hit the sand for the second match up of the season against LMU on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. MST. The Wildcats earned a victory against the LMU in the Arizona Invitational, (5-0) as the Lions hold a record of (2-10).
Later that day, Arizona sand volleyball will go on to hit the sand against CSU Bakersfield at 2:15 p.m. MST. The Cats got another home win as they defeated the RoadRunners just last weekend in the Wildcat Invitational, (5-0). CSU Bakersfield holds a (2-7) record.
On Sunday, April 3 at 10 a.m. UA will take on No. 1 ranked Pepperdine to close out the Zuma Classic. Pepperdine holds a (11-1) record as they dropped their first match of the season to No. 5 UCLA, (2-3).
The Arizona sand volleyball team holds a record of (8-1) after defeating CSU Bakersfield, New Mexico and CSUN in last weekend's Wildcat Spring Challenge.
