Tucson, ARIZ- For the second year in a row, senior Inge Hendrikx has been awarded the Southwest Region ITA Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship, as announced by the ITA. Hendrikx was one of two Pac-12 players to win the award, the other being Colorado's Nuria Ormeno.
"Inge Hendrikx has always represented herself and our school with great sportsmanship," said head coach Vicky Maes "She is well liked among her peers and very much respected by her opponents. She carries herself like a true champion, on and off the court and she is very deserving of this recognition."
The award recognizes elite student-athletes who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and unwavering dedication to their team; with exceptional hard work, courage, sportsmanship and a positive, cooperative attitude that makes people around them play better.
Hendrikx, who boasts a 3.6 GPA and plans on attending the University of Arizona Entrepreneurship Program through the Eller College of Business next year, now qualifies for the national award, which will be announced on Tuesday, May 24.
