The Tucson local grew up a devoted Wildcat fan and has always had a special connection to Arizona tennis, as his father, Mike Lee played tennis for U of A from 1980-1984.
“It means a lot to play where my dad played and that was a big part of my decision and to also play Wildcat tennis,” said Lee. “I'm very excited for this year and to play for my hometown."
Lee's father couldn't be more excited to have his son following in his footsteps.
“When Michael told me he was going to play for Arizona, I was thrilled,” said Mike Lee. “It's such an effort going through the recruiting process that when it was finally decided, I had a real feeling of relief and then happiness. I can't wait to root on the Cats next year.”
Lee is most excited to be fulfilling his dream of playing in the Pac-12 Conference and playing at U of A .
During his time here, Lee said that he would love to beat UCLA and compete for a conference championship in Ojai, California.
Lee will be joining newcomers, Andres Reyes and Alejandro Reguant as well as the rest of the Arizona squad.
“The feeling is unexplainable to get the incredible opportunity to be out on the same courts my dad played on and to do what I do best for all of the people of my hometown who I love,” said Lee.
