Alexandra Taylor Signs NLI to Play for Wildcats

TUCSON, Ariz. – Head women's tennis coach Vicky Maes has received a National Letter of Intent from Alexandra Taylor to play tennis at the University of Arizona.
"We are thrilled to welcome Alex into our family," Maes said. "She is a very mature and driven young woman and has very high aspirations for herself and our team. Alex is an extremely talented player and is expected to make an immediate impact on the program."
Taylor has been ranked as high as 78th overall in Australia and 13th for her age group. She played at the top spot of the lineup on the Under 18 All-Australian team in 2015 and was a member of the NSW state team of eight players who won the National Championship in 2015. She also won three Australian Money Gold and Platinum doubles tournaments.
"'I am honored to be part of such a great program," Taylor said. "Coach Maes and coach (Andrew) Veeder have been so welcoming and I am excited to contribute to the team's success during my college career. I am looking forward to all the opportunities that the University of Arizona has to offer."
Taylor will join the 2016-2017 squad alongside other notable signees Paris Corley and Marie Van Aelst, who are looking to fill the shoes of Shayne Austin and Inge Hendrikx, who both exhausted eligibility last summer. The Wildcats return five letterwinners, led by senior Lauren Marker, a First Team All-Pac-12 selection last season.
