BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Arizona women's basketball team (9-5, 0-3 Pac-12) was defeated by the Colorado Buffaloes (11-3, 1-2 Pac-12) by a score of 65-56 on Friday night at the Coors Events Center.

LaBrittney Jones scored 15 points and led the team with nine rebounds while blocking four shots. In the fourth quarter, she scored her 1,000th career point and is the 19th Wildcat to do so in school history. Jones has now scored in double-figures 10 times this season.

Malena Washington led all scorers with 22 points, dished out a team-high five assists and was a perfect 6-6 from the line. That is the senior's second 20-point performance of the season.

It was a tough start to the game as the Buffs scored the first 11 points, but after
Adia Barnes called a timeout, Arizona regrouped and got right back in the game. The Wildcats would then go on a 12-6 run to make the score 17-12 Colorado at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Colorado once again started hot as they scored the first seven points, but like the previous quarter, Arizona responded well. The Wildcats outscored Colorado 10-6 to end the period to make the score 30-22 Colorado at the half. Washington led all scorers with 10 first-half points.

Arizona made it a game as they outscored Colorado 18-14 in the third quarter to make the score 44-40 Buffaloes at the end of the third quarter. The Buffs were able to hold off the Wildcats in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Wildcats 21-16 to preserve their first Pac-12 victory.
The Wildcats will hop on a plane tomorrow morning for Salt Lake City to prepare for their matchup with the Utes on Sunday at noon MST.
