Boettcher Named Academic All-District

TUCSON, Ariz. – Senior offensive guard Christian Boettcher has been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for his combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
 
A biochemistry major with a 3.60 grade point average, Boettcher has started all 10 games for the Wildcats this season at left guard. He has helped the Wildcats average 7.34 yards per carry, which leads the country. Arizona already has scored 41 rushing touchdowns this season, which is the most by the program in the Pac-10/12 era.
 
The Wildcats are also averaging 347.7 rushing yards per game, which is the third best mark in the country. Boettcher and the Wildcats are also third in the nation in scoring per game at 44.4 points per game and have 27 plays of 40 more yards, which leads the country.
 
Boettcher is one of five linemen on the NCAA Division I-District 8 team, which includes players from schools in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada. The other linemen joining Boettcher are Johnny Capra (Utah), Jesse Burkett (Stanford), Justin Outslay (Portland State) and Calvin Throckmorton (Oregon).
 
Boettcher is set to graduate in the spring, and then has plans to enroll in law school. The senior from Scottsdale is now eligible to be named an Academic All-American by CoSIDA.
 
The Wildcats and Boettcher are in action next on Saturday when they travel to Oregon to take on the Ducks at 5 p.m., MST. The game will be televised by Pac-12 Network.
