TUCSON, Ariz. – As Arizona gymnastics prepares for the upcoming 2018 season, the newest team captains have been announced as sophomore Christina Berg, senior Kennady Schneider, and senior Madison Cindric.
"The gymnastic program is very honored and excited to have Chrissy, Kennady, and Madison representing this year's gymnastics team," said head coach John Court. "They all have a different approach to leadership and connecting with teammates, which makes them the best combination to lead their peers."
Christina Berg is a sophomore from Tinley Park, Illinois. She is majoring in physiology and hopes to become a physical therapist after graduation. Last year Berg competed in every meet of the season and was a leader on the uneven bars, scoring a season and career high of 9.875 against Iowa State on Jan. 21.
"I am really looking forward to supporting, guiding, and pushing this team in every way possible this season," said Berg. "We have a lot to look forward to and we're going to have a great season ahead of us."
Kennady Schneider is a senior GymCat from Henderson, Nevada, majoring in Fine Arts with an emphasis on photography. Last season she earned a new season and career high of 9.925 on floor at home against Cal on Feb. 10.
"I am so stoked to be names captain for this year's team," said Schneider. "I bring enthusiasm, authenticity, and determination to the table as a leader. This season is going to be extremely exciting; this particular team of young women exemplifies Wildcat fierceness and pride"
Senior Madison Cindric has been named captain of the GymCats for two consecutive seasons. Cindric is from Lanton, Texas and will graduate with a bachelor's degree in sociology. She is one of the only all-around competitors for the Cats, earning a career high of 9.85 on vault, 9.925 on bars, 9.90 on beam, and 9.85 on floor.
"I am very honored to be named captain for the second season," said Cindric. "I am excited to do anything I can to help this team get to where we want to be. We all can't wait for season and to be able to show everyone how hard we have been working in the gym."
