On the past Sunday, the Wildcats lost a member of their program when Cassandra Kirkland passed away after a battle with lung cancer. She was just 32 years old.
 
Cassandra Kirkland competed for the Wildcats from 2002-06 where she earned six Top-10 finishes. Kirkland was a member of the Ladies European Tour and won the Sanya Ladies Open in Hainan, China in 2012. Kirkland was incredibly tough and resilient through her chemotherapy process. 
 
In her battle with cancer, Kirkland always stayed positive and launched a campaign to raise funds for cancer research through her website, cassandrakirkland.com.
 
She battled the disease courageously and said, "I want to be an example, share my experience with people touched by cancer, in order to help them have a better life and fight to live."
