Ten from Arizona Gymnastics Named Scholastic All-Americans

TUCSON, Arizona – Arizona Gymnastics sets a new record having 10 women named Scholastic All-Americans for the 2017 season.
The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC) recgonized Heather Swanson, Courtney Cowles, Jenny Leung, Maddi Leydin, Lauryn Mattson, Skyler Sheppard, Madison Cindric, Kennady Schneider, Gabrielle Laub, and Krysten Howard for their academic achievements during the Spring 2017 semester.
In order to become a Scholastic All-American a student-athlete must be a key member of the team, hold a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA, and have participated in at least 50 percent of the season's competitions.
During the 2016-2017 season the Cats worked hard both in the gym and in the classroom. Two GymCats earned a 4.0 GPA and 8 GymCats earned a 3.5 GPA or higher.
With an overall GPA of 3.572, the Cats shattered their previously recorded team GPA of 3.40 and became the second highest academically ranked women's team on campus.
