Wildcat Alum Kiser Hired as Beach Volleyball Assistant Coach

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona indoor and beach volleyball alum Emily Kiser has been hired as Arizona's assistant beach volleyball coach, head coach Steve Walker announced on Wednesday.
"It comes with a really great sense of excitement and pride to bring Emily back to The University of Arizona in this role," said Walker. "Emily has dedicated herself to the coaching profession and has developed into a terrific coach that will have a lot to offer our student-athletes. She is a tireless worker and I know she can't wait to get the upcoming academic year started."
Kiser returns to Arizona after spending the last two years as a high school and club volleyball coach in Phoenix, where she was a teacher following her graduation from UA.
"I am very excited to be back in Tucson," said Kiser. "I loved my time at the University of Arizona and being a part of the inaugural year for the beach program. I am very excited to get started and help this team reach its goals this year."
Kiser competed for both of Arizona's indoor and beach volleyball programs from 2012-2015 after transferring Sacramento State, where she played indoor volleyball from 2010-12. Kiser saw action in 50 sets in her indoor career before joining UA's inaugural beach volleyball club in 2014, where she went 5-0 with her partner Sarah Seiber. As a senior in 2015, Kiser posted a 12-6 record.
"What I love when looking back in Emily's time here as a player, was she really understood the importance of having a consistent and strong work ethic," said Walker. "Over time, Emily developed into a very high level beach volleyball player and chief contributor for the program. She made the jump from the indoor game to sand full time and knows firsthand how to manage that transition; and will be able to share those experiences with our players."
Arizona beach volleyball enters its fifth season overall and third NCAA season in 2018. The Wildcats, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2016, have been a fixture in the top 10 over the last three seasons.
"Our program has enjoyed so much growth since the athletic department added it a number of years ago, and this is another great milestone," said Walker. "To be able to bring back a letterwinner in this capacity, it's very exciting."
