09/28/2017 | Gymnastics
Name: Lexi Mills
Years competed: 2012-2016
Year graduated: 2016
What did you accomplish at Arizona and as a GymCat?
2016 Regional Beam Champion and 2016 NCAA National Qualifier on Beam
What have you been up to since graduation?
I have moved out to Los Angeles after school and have been pursuing my career within the Staffing Industry.
How do you feel Arizona helped you grow as a person?
I think my coaches and my teammates taught me a lot of valuable lessons while I was at Arizona. You really enter the program as a kid and come out with as more of an adult. I can honestly say that I would not be anywhere near where I am in my career without the help of every single person over at the University.
Are you still involved in gymnastics? What do you miss most about the University of Arizona?
I am no longer involved in gymnastics but do keep up with all the GymCats I still watch every single meet online and will always be there rooting my team on! I think what I miss most about the University is the weather. There was rarely any days without sun and Arizona definitely had the best sunsets by far!
What about Arizona stood out to you when being recruited?
The family atmosphere really drew me to the school. I think from the moment I stepped onto the campus I knew that Arizona was going to be my home. You could immediately tell that he coaching, the girls, and the rest of the athletic department really did want you to succeed in everything that you did. It isn't very often that you find a program that really is dedicated to every single individual athlete they bring in and that really stood out to me when I was looking for my next home away from home.
What do you miss most about being a student-athlete?
I think what I miss most about being a student athlete is getting to be around my best friends every single day. Your teammates and all of the athletes in Mckale really became your family and it is definitely weird when you do not see them every day anymore.
What are some of your favorite memories at Arizona and with the GymCats?
Traveling will always be some of my favorite memories as a GymCat. We were able to explore so many different places around the country and it just makes it even better when you are able to share those memories with your best friends.
What advice would you give to current GymCat athletes?
Don't take any moments as a GymCat for granted. There may be some days where you feel exhausted, stressed out, and overwhelmed but I promise when it is all over you will miss those days as well. These are the best 4 years of your life and you get to experience everything with you best friends. Don't waste any second of it!
Anything else you would like to share about your time at Arizona?
My time at Arizona and as a GymCat were by far the best years of my life so far and I am thankful for every single person who made the experience so great for me. Arizona will always share a special place in my heart and I am extremely proud to have been a GymCat and represent the University of Arizona.
