Tucson, Ariz. – Redshirt junior
Carlos Villarreal and senior
Addi Zerrenner will advance to the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships as individuals, the NCAA announced on Saturday. The duo will travel to Madison, Wis. to compete in the final cross country race of the year on Saturday, Nov.17th.
"The great performances of Addi (Zerrenner) and Carlos (Villarreal) are the continuation of what they have done this whole season," said head cross country coach
James Li. "They have been very consistant. They have had pretty significant improvement from past years and have earned the rights as individuals to represent the Wildcats in the National Championships. I am very happy for them; I think they are very elated. We have seven days to get recovered from this hard race at regionals. I know they will do their best to make their Wildcat family proud."
Villarreal will make his second NCAA Championships appearance, first in cross-country. The indoor All-American qualified for the national meeting with a second place finish at the NCAA West Regional meet.
Zerrenner is set to make her first NCAA Championships appearance. The senior finished 17th in the NCAA West Regional Meet to qualify as an individual.
