Wildcats One Back of the Lead Heading Into the Final Round

PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The Arizona women's golf team completed the second round of play at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Monday at Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Cats finished the second round of play in second place at 8-over par on the round and 9-over for the tournament. UA is one shot back of first place Alabama and UCLA who are both at 8-over par heading into the final round of play.
Freshman Yu-Sang Hou led the way for UA shooting a 1-under par round of 70 which was her first career under par round for the Wildcats. Hou is at even par for the tournament and is currently in a tie for fourth place. Junior Gigi Stoll continued her strong play by shooting a 1-over par round of 73. Stoll is in seventh place in the event at 1-over par. Junior Bianca Pagdanganan carded a 4-over par round of 75 in her second round, which puts her at 5-over for the tournament, and in a tie for 23rd place. Junior Haley Moore shot a round of 75 on the day, and is currently in a tie for 33rd place at 6-over par. Sophomore Sandra Nordaas carded a 4-over round of 75 in her second round which puts her in a tie for 42nd place.
Arizona continues to take advantage of the Par-5s in the event, where they have averaged 4.63 strokes, good for 11-under par, which leads the field. The Cats have also led the field in total pars through the first two rounds with 116. The second round of play was another difficult day for the field in which the average score was more than four strokes over par at 75.67 strokes.
Olivia Mefaffey of Arizona State leads the individual tournament at 3-under par after shooting rounds of 68, and 71.
The third and final round of play will begin on Tuesday morning in a shotgun format at 8:30 a.m. PST.
