Arizona GymCats Finish Up Regular Season Competition at LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Arizona gymnastics traveled to compete against No. 2 LSU in Maravich Center at 2 p.m. this afternoon. The Cats lost with a final score of 195.525 to LSU's 198.125.
"I am very proud of the way we competed today," said head coach John Court. "Our skill sets were solid across all four events and I know that we left it all out on the floor."
Cats Opened on the Uneven Bars:
Arizona started today's competition on the uneven bars, earning an event score of 49.125. Senior Victoria Ortiz opened the meet with a clean 9.750. Second in the lineup was junior Haylie Hendrickson who scored a 9.775, sophomore Maddi Leydin followed her with a 9.800. Senior Madison Cindric kicked the heat up when she scored a 9.875, tying her season high. Junior Danielle Spencer and sophomore Christina Berg finished up bars for Arizona, earning a 9.825 (Spencer) and 9.850 (Berg).
Schneider Remains Consistent on Floor:
Senior Kennady Schneider earned a 9.850 on floor against LSU, making this her 9th floor routine this season that scored a 9.850 or higher. Schneider currently holds a career high of 9.925 on floor, and averages a score of 9.847. The fans and judges love her self-choreographed routine that comes from her major in the Fine Arts, and she has been a consistent and strong competitor for Arizona since her freshman season.
Cindric and Leydin Compete in the All-Around:
Senior Madison Cindric and sophomore Maddi Leydin represented Arizona in the all-around competition against No. 2 LSU. Cindric earned an all-around score of 39.275, scoring a 9.750 on vault, 9.875 on bars, 9.850 on beam, and 9.800 on floor. Leydin earned an all-around score of 39.000, scoring a 9.725 on vault, 9.800 on bars, 9.750 on beam, and a 9.725 on floor.
Arizona Hosts Pac-12 Championships on March 24:
On Saturday, March 24 the Cats will be welcoming all eight Pac-12 schools for the 2018 Pac-12 Championships being held in McKale Center. Session 1 will begin at 1 p.m. and session 2 will begin at 6 p.m. The seeds for each session will be announced tomorrow, Sunday March 18.
