BEND, Ore. – One of the stars of Arizona's national champion women's golf team,
Gigi Stoll, is continuing to make headlines this summer.
Participating in the 109th Oregon Amateur Championship held at Bend Golf Club, Stoll cruised to medalist honors by nine shots on Tuesday. The defending champion of the event, Stoll opened the week with a 6-under par 66 on Moday, breaking the course record. She followed up that effort with a 68 on Tuesday, finishing 10-under par and nine shots ahead of her closest competition.
Stoll is a three-time Oregon Women's Amateur champion, winning consecutive titles in 2014-15 and claiming her third championship last summer.
After earning an opening round bye in match play, Stoll will have a chance at her fourth title once she begins play in the Round of 16.
Last month, Stoll and the Wildcats captured the program's third national championship. Stoll's match play experience proved valuable for Arizona. In the quarterfinals, she took down UCLA's Lilia Vu, the 2018 PING WGCA Player of the Year, with a 2-up victory. Stoll continued her impressive play with a 5&3 victory in a semifinal match over Stanford's Ziyi Wang.
