Freshman GymCat Asia Rose DuVernay is from Lansing, Michigan. DuVernay is an accomplished gymnast, winning three championship titles for bars, vault, and floor. She also helped her team to the title of Level 10 State Champions from 2014-2017. DuVernay is looking forward to a successful freshman year at Arizona.
How old were you when you started gymnastics?
I was two years old when I started gymnastics.
What is your favorite event and why?
Floor is my favorite event because I love how everyone gets into it and getting to be anyone you want to be for a minute and a half.
What is fun and special about collegiate gymnastics?
Contributing to a team and working together to reach a common goal makes collegiate gymnastics special.
What made U of A stand out when you were being recruited?
I loved the beautiful campus and the family atmosphere.

Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?
My favorite professional athlete is Jordyn Wieber because whenever I was struggling, she would always come over to encourage or help me no matter what she was doing.
What is your dream job after college?
My dream job is to work as a journalist for Fox News.
Do you have any siblings?
Yes, I have an older brother and sister.
Who is your celebrity crush?
My celebrity crush is Dylan O' Brien.
What is a hobby you have outside of gymnastics?
My hobbies are reading and hanging out with my dog.
What is your favorite GymCat memory thus far?
My favorite GymCat memories so far are karaoke nights or dance off's in the dorms.
