Flagstaff, Ariz. – In the 2019 Arizona track and field indoor season opener on Friday, Jordan Geist threw a mark of 20.27m (66-6) in the shot put to win the event. The sophomore's mark is good for the No. 1 mark in the NCAA and the No. 3 mark in the world to date. He also took second in the weight throw with a mark of 12.12m (62-8.75).


Justice Summerset took first place in the high jump with a mark of 2.15m (7-0.5).  Lillian Lowe finished first in the ladies high jump with a 1.80m (5-10.75) clearance. Alexa Porpaczy and Karla Teran cleared 1.75m (5-8.75). Porpaczy finished third and Teran took fourth.
 
Freshman Neysia Howard took fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.52. Keishawn Everly took seventh in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.90. Imani Lee took ninth with the same time 6.90. PJ Austin clocked a time of 9.94 to take tenth. David Egbo won the 300-meter dash with a time of 34.45, Trevor Volpe followed in third clocking a time of 35.23.
 
Amarissa Hawker and Grayson Fleming tossed PRs in the weight throw. Hawker took second with a mark of 18.72m (61-5). Fleming finished third with a mark of 18.96m (62-2.5).
 
The ladies 4x400-meter relay team of Howard, Karolina Pahlitzsch, Tatum Waggoner and Diana Gajda clocked a time of 3:41.80 to win the event. The men's team of Umajesty Williams, Maksims Sincukovs, Daniel Egbo and James Smith took first in the event with a time of 3:12.72.
 
Up next, the Cats will travel to Iowa City, Iowa to compete in the Larry Wieczorek Invitational.
