PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – The
Arizona Women's Tennis team walked away with a pair of Singles wins on Sunday thanks to
Camila Wesbrooks and
Marie Van Aelst. The senior
Emma Wilson went toe to toe with Emma Higuchi from Stanford who is ranked as the No. 36 player in the nation.
Talya Zandberg dropped her match against Maria-Paula Torres from University of San Diego. The duo of Wesbrooks and Wilson put up a fight against Michaela Gordon and Emily Arbuthnott from Stanford, but couldn't prevail. Stanford is currently ranked as the No. 13 University in the country and known for being often ranked No. 1 overall in past years.

Wesbrooks (UA) def. Tyrina (USD) 6-2, 7-6 (6).
Van Aelst (UA) def. Garcia (USD) 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Torres (USD) def. Zandberg (UA) 2-6, 6-2, 10-8.
Higuchi (STAN) def. Wilson (UA) 4-6, 7-6, 6-4.
Doubles
Gordon/Arbuthnott (STAN) def. Wesbrooks/Wilson (UA) 12-10.
The Wildcats complete their first tournament of the regular season. They will be back in California next weekend to compete in the Cal State Fullerton Invitational.
