Arizona Swim and Dive Signs 10 New Members for Fall 2019

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona Swimming and Diving is set to welcome ten student-athletes next fall to the Class of 2023. All bring a unique skillset and perspective to the team.
 
Head Coach Augie Busch notes his excitement about the new class, "This was a fun recruiting season and I am very excited about this year's class of signees." Busch adds "always improving our team-first culture is of the utmost importance and all of these men and women are eager to contribute to that as well."  
 
This class consists of seven women, six swimmers and one diver. Coach Busch notes "the women's class adds depth at just about every event and should enhance our relays as well." 

Hannah Farrow | Fountain Valley, Calif. | Butterfly
Farrow was MVP two years in a row for her high school team. She holds her high school's record in the 100 fly and is an all American swimmer. She is a junior national finalist and a Phillips 66 national qualifier as well.
 
Ellie Jew | Portland, Ore. | Breast / IM
Jew is a state-champion in the 200 medley relay and finished third in the 200 free relay at OSAA 6A Swimming State Championships. Individually, she earned a silver medal in the 100 breast and bronze in the 200 IM.
 
Faith Knelson | Victoria, British Columbia, Canada | Breast / IM
Knelson was on the Junior Canadian National Team for three years, and now is on the Senior National Team. She holds the junior world record in the 400 medley relay. 
 
Axana Merckx | Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada | IM / Back
Merckx has won gold medals at Provincials and high school Provincials. She won four medals at Western Canadian Championships last year as well.
 
Jade Neser | Johannesburg, South Africa | Free / Breast
Neser earned full swimming colors and sports honors for outstanding achievement in swimming in 2016. At provincials, Neser was selected for the national team Fina Junior World Championships in 2015. She holds the age group record in the long course 50m breast for 14, 15, and 17 year olds. In the short course, she holds the 100 free 16 year old age group record. At South African Nationals in April, she earned a bronze medal at the 50 breast.
 
Gracie Sleeman | Ada, Mich. | Dive
Sleeman is a 10-time USA Diving Junior National qualifier, 4-time All-State, All-American, and 6-dive and 11-dive record holder.
 
Casslyn Treydte | Fontana, Calif. | Freestyle
Treydte recently swam the 100 and 200 meter free at winter Nationals in North Carolina. Her high school team won the first girls CIF championship, and placed sixth in the 200 and 500 at state. She holds the 500 freestyle record at Los Osos and 15 club records.
 
The men add two swimmers and one diver to the team. "Our men's class will also make big contributions in a short period of time," explains Busch.

Hunter Ingram | North Tustin, Calif. | Free / Fly
Ingram is a three-time Junior National qualifier in the 200m free. He is also a six-time CIF Southern Section finalist and two-time NISCA All-American.
 
Bjorn Markentin | Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada | Dive
Markentin is a 12-time Canadian National Finalist and 3-time National medalist.
 
Brooks Taner | Half Moon Bay, Calif. | Free / Fly / Back
Taner is a US Open qualifier in the 100 and 200 fly and a member of the US National Team, swimming at the FINA World Cup in Budapest. He is a three-time CIF State Championship finalist and a two-time NISCA All-American.
